Our Team

Mary Susan Convery, MSW, LICSW

Mary Susan Convery, MSW, LICSW, is a Clinical Specialist in the Social Service Department at MGH and a member of the department’s Leadership Team. She has extensive clinical experience working with patients and families affected by trauma, illness, and end of life.  As a Clinical Specialist, she provides clinical supervision, training, and consultation to MGH clinical staff. Her previous clinical work also includes hospice, women veterans, sexual assault survivors, and interpersonal violence. 

Ms. Convery has worked as a clinical social worker with various MGH services since 2006, including the Cancer Center Thoracic Oncology Clinic, the Burn Unit, Orthopedics, and Plastics/Reconstructive Surgery. She is a faculty member in the Palliative Care Case Supervision program and has been recognized by the MGH Clinical Recognition Board as a Clinical Scholar. She is a Co-Lead for MGH Patient Care Services’ Advancing Evidence-Based Practice initiative and the Coach for MGH’s Collaborative Governance Evidence-Based Practice Committee. 

Motivated by personal and professional interest in Secondary Traumatic Stress, Ms. Convery conducts professional trainings on the topic both locally and nationally. 

Ms. Convery holds a Masters in Social Work from Salem State University, a Bachelors in Social Work from Cleveland State University, and received graduate training at the VA Boston Healthcare System.
