Research

The PACT Program has initiated a number of research projects to further understand the needs of families in which a parent has cancer or another serious illness, as well as the needs of the professionals who care for them. While PACT and others have published some of their experiences and insights, a more thorough understanding of the various challenges an illness presents to a family, and the appropriate interventions to help meet these challenges, is still needed. Our hope is that lessons learned from past, present, and future research, in addition to the growing wisdom of clinical experience, will contribute to the ability of PACT clinicians and other professionals to provide useful guidance to parents facing a serious illness.
